Preservation of our natural resources is of concern to the following non-profit organizations, and to the people who participate in their vital activities. The commercial businesses listed provide important services for our parks.

(805) 688-4515 This non-profit foundation raises funds for and oversees operation of the Nature Center and its collection of Native American artifacts, plant, wildlife, historical and geological displays, and a gift shop. Trained volunteer docents enlighten visitors at the Center, and lead nature walks. Community groups and school children often come to the Nature Center on field trips. A popular annual trout derby and memberships fund the Center, which is open year-round on weekends. There is no admission charged. New docents are always welcomed! Call (805) 688-4515 to learn more. County Riding and Hiking Trails Advisory Committee (CRAHTAC) (805) 568-2461 CRAHTAC was established by the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors in an advisory capacity to review programs, policies and procedures affecting county recreational riding and hiking trails and their use. Committee members are concerned with the location, development and maintenance of the recreational trails system countywide, to provide public access and links to the Los Padres National Forest, parks, beaches, and other public recreation areas. The committee is comprised of a maximum four members from each of the five Supervisorial Districts, and serve at the pleasure of the appointing Supervisor. CRAHTAC meets regularly on a bi-monthly schedule. Friends of Waller Park (805) 937-1173 Girsh Park (805) 968-2773 This new Goleta park's 13 acres offer soccer, softball and basketball facilities, children's play area, community room, BBQ, open space and wetlands areas. Girsh Park is privately owned, but operated by the non-profit Camino Real Park Foundation, which also manages bookings for a dozen acres of adjacent ballfields. To reach the Park from Highway 101, take the Storke Road exit and head toward the ocean. Continue through the Hollister intersection and just past the fire station, take a right into the Girsh lots. operates the historic 1872 Stow House at 304 N. Los Carneros Road in Los
Carneros County Park. Other attractions on the site include the Sexton
Museum of Goleta History, blacksmith shop, farm implement yard and historic
gardens. Stow House and the Museum are open Saturdays and Sundays, 2 to
4 p.m. Grounds and gardens are open to the public daily, and may be rented
for events such as weddings and private parties. You can help support,
collect, preserve and interpret local history by becoming a member. Membership
fees are $25/individual; $35/family; $50/sustaining; $100/patron.
